No. You don't have to know animation. In fact, this is like when you make animations on the corner of a book, known as flip animation.

We are not trying to apply for a job at Disney Pixar here :)

You will start doing an intuitive animation. You will get better with practice.

The course is about learning how to think, project and create this new tiny animated map format.

You don’t need to learn how to use any specific software.

It's just about learning a feature that all animation apps have.

This feature, is present in all the software available to do animations: “onion skin,” the capacity to see the previous frame to have a reference to draw the next one. That’s it.

 
We are not making cartoon animations. We are learning to create maps in which we will apply little animations to create metaphorical messages. 

These kinds of maps takes planning, preparation, and time.  I don’t sell this map format as a main service. This is a plus. I usually offer it to my clients after the classic map I did at an event.

They are an animated recap of the recap you already did live. 

So you create your classic static graphic recording map (analogic or digital), and then you can offer these animated maps as an extra service.

You only map 4,5 or 6 concepts of a big topic you really want people to read and you highlight them adding some simple animations. This is like a “30 second elevator speech” brief. it should be short enough to be presented during a brief elevator ride. In this case it is a quick synopsis of a story with the key facts you want people to watch.
